About Us

The Harambee Village began in 2003 as a program of Redeemer Lutheran Church in North Minneapolis. Our first event was a support group meeting attended by five famlies in the church basement

Harambee grew very quickly and by the end of 2006 had served more than 1000 families and 2500 youth. While exciting, this growth also required that Harambee find a more secure framework within the adoption community to continue to serve as many families and youth as possible.

Beginning August 1, 2007, Harambee became a program of the North American Council on Adoptable Children. NACAC is proud to have the opportunity to add Harambee to its services to the families in Minnesota, the U.S., and beyond.
