Kuumba Kid Village

Register online!

Kuumba (pronounced koo-OOM-bah) is a Swahili word meaning creativity and is one of the seven principals of Kwanzaa. The Harambee Kuumba Village will give youth an opportunity to explore their personal and collective creativity through relationships and community.

Each Kuumba Village will include:

  • Mentoring by positive, affirming African American role models
  • Life skills development through experiences in the community
  • Cultural connections
  • Focus on positive racial identity development and enhancement of self esteem

Spring Session is now concluded, and Kuumba Kid Villages will be taking a summer break.

Fall Session, and new Kid Village dates, will begin in October. In-person registration will be available at the Harambee Village Annual BBQ. Online registration will begin at noon on August 18th.

Keep checking our website for Summer Events, or join our mailing list for weekly updates.

The Kuumba Kid Villages will be held on the second Sunday of each month. Exact times and locations for Kuumba Village will vary.

Pre-registration is required and registration is limited to ensure adequate staffing for our youth programming. Cost is $20 per youth per Kid Village. You may register online here or by coming to our offices in person.
