Nia Kid Village

Register online!

Nia, a Swahili word meaning purpose, is one of the seven principals of Kwanzaa. The Harambee Nia Village will give children an opportunity to develop relationships with each other and adult mentors to encourage purpose through community. Activities will include:

  • Traditional African American cooking
  • African drumming
  • The Black Storytellers Alliance presenting traditional African and African
    American stories
  • Art encouraging expression of feelings and personal experience
  • Games including Double-Dutch, Mancala, and hand games.

Spring Session is now concluded, and Nia Kid Villages will be taking a summer break.

Fall Session, and new Kid Village dates, will begin in October. In-person registration will be available at the Harambee Village Annual BBQ. Online registration will begin at noon on August 18th.

The Nia Kid Villages will be held on the first Saturdays of the month from 9:00 a.m. – 12 p.m. The Nia Kid Villages will meet at:

Pre-registration is required and registration is limited to ensure adequate staffing for our youth programming. Cost is $20 per youth per Kid Village. You may register online here or by coming to our offices in person.
