Welcome to Harambee Village at NACAC

Harambee Village provides services for African American children and their adoptive, foster, and kinship families. We believe that every child deserves a family who honors the child's racial and cultural heritage. Our programming and services support African American children and their adoptive, foster, and kinship families by:

  • seeking to develop a community of safety and belonging that reflects the needs and identities of each individual
  • creating opportunities for children and youth to develop positive identity and self-esteem
  • helping parents learn about transracial parenting, racial identity, and living as part of a family of color, and
  • providing access to culturally relevant, adoption-competent information, resources, and support

We offer family support groups, a yearly conference for parents and professionals, a December celebration, and in-person, phone, and e-mail support and resource referrals for families parenting African American children.
